YouTube has launched a new feature called “Super Thanks,” which is a new way for creators to make money. With this feature, users who watch YouTube videos can purchase “Super Thanks” to express their gratitude and show support for their favorite creators.
Fans can show their support by purchasing Super Merci from $ 2 (around Rs 150) to $ 50 (around Rs 3,730). Once a fan makes a purchase on a video page, YouTube adds an animated GIF with a colorful comment to highlight their purchase, and creators can respond to that as well.
The feature is available to creators and viewers in 68 countries on desktop and mobile devices (Android and iOS). The company says it’s working to expand it to more designers by the end of the year.
YouTube noted that the feature is not available for certain types of videos, including age-restricted, unlisted, private, child-friendly videos, videos with content identification claims, and videos with YouTube giving fundraisers.
“Just like Super Chat and Super Stickers, Super Merci has a dual duty for the creators: to keep their connection with meaningful (super) fans, while providing them with a new way to make money,” the company said in a blog post.
YouTube: How do you check if you have access to Super Merci?
Step 1: Log into YouTube Studio. In the left menu, click on Monetization.
Step 2: Select the Supers tab. If this is your first time in the Supers section, follow the onscreen instructions to get started. You must be monetizing and in an eligible area to gain access to Supers.
If you don’t see the Supers section, you don’t have access to it yet. Once you have completed all of the instructions, if you see “Super Thanks” with an on / off button next to it, you have access to it.
